Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer & Internship Opportunities

Internships & Practicum Placements: Albertina Kerr serves as a field placement for undergraduate and graduate level students in the areas of psychology, social work, special education, counseling and other professional human services. To apply, please submit the volunteer application along with you school requirements.

School-Required Service: If you are looking for up to 10 hours per term, sign-up for our One-Time Projects to fulfill your requirement. If you are looking for 10 hours per week per term, most of our On-Going Positions can be adapted to meet requirements.

 

One-Time Opportunities: Through a one-time commitment of just a few hours, you can help make a difference in the lives of individuals in our community.

On-Going Positions: Through a commitment of a few hours per week for at least 6 months, you can join our community in making lasting change in your own life and lives of others.

Skilled / Pro Bono Service: If you have a special skill or project idea that doesn't align with any of our listed opportunities we would love to hear from you. Your vision may meet a previously unidentified need!

Internships 

EVENT INTERNSHIP

Location: 424 NE 22nd Ave Portland, OR 97232

Commitment: June 15th - September 18th. Weekdays, 10-15 hours per week. Some weekends and evenings might be required.

Albertina Kerr is seeking an Event Planning Intern to support the Development Staff and Events Manager to assist in planning and organizing Race for the Roses. This is an unpaid internship which will provide an introduction to special events, marketing and volunteer management.

CORPORATE PARTNER/SALES INTERNSHIP

Location: 424 NE 22nd Ave Portland, OR 97232

Commitment: June 1st - September 30th. Weekdays, 10-20 hours per week. 

This is an exciting business opportunity to fill multiple roles that will expose the right candidate to our organization's Corporate Partner and Event Sponsorship program. Within this role, the candidate will fill an integral role helping drive new corporate partnership opportunities, market analysis and research, creation of targeted marketing plans and overall department support within the Corporate Sales & Events within the Development Department at Albertina Kerr.

MARKETING INTERNSHIP

Location: 424 NE 22nd Ave Portland, OR 97232

Commitment: 12-24 hours per week with potential for more, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Sic month commitment.

Albertina Kerr is seeking a Marketing Intern to assist with marketing communications projects including writing narrative stories, website updates, social media projects, Google AdGrants, Google Analytics and general project support. This internship is an excelent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for one of Oregon's most admired nonprofits.

On-Going Positions

ALBERTINA’S KITCHEN

Location:424 NE 22nd Ave Portland, OR 97232

Commitment: 2 days per month, 10am-3pm, Monday - Saturday

Dream about becoming a celebrity chef? In our eyes, every volunteer in the kitchen is a celebrity. Albertina's Kitchen is known for its heritage-inspired lunches with modern twists in a garden setting. Volunteers can help prepare and serve gourmet lunches, take reservations, host and cashier.

 

ALBERTINA’S HEIRLOOMS

Location: 424 NE 22nd Ave Portland, OR 97232

Commitment: 2 days per month, 10am-3pm, Monday - Saturday

Interested in antiques and collectibles? Contribute your time and talents to Albertina’s Heirlooms, where customers will discover vintage and luxury bargains along with treasured collections, china patterns and one-of-a-kind gifts among consignments and donations from the area’s loveliest homes. We’re seeking managers, salespeople, cashiers, pricers and space designers.

 

ALBERTINA’S JEWEL BOX

Location: 424 NE 22nd Ave Portland, OR 97232

Commitment: 2 days per month, 10am-3pm, Monday - Saturday

Albertina’s Jewel Box sparkles with artful jewelry and accessories featuring the work of locally based artists and vintage pieces alongside contemporary home and holiday décor. Join the buying team. Select and purchase merchandise, help with inventory and stock merchandise. Work in sales and cashiering or create displays.

 

ALBERTINA’S CLOSET

Location: 424 NE 22nd Ave Portland, OR 97232

Commitment: 2 days per month, 10am-3pm, Monday - Saturday

Offers fine quality new-to-you clothing for men and women; fashion jewelry, household items, books, linens and much more. We need volunteers to price & display clothing, kitchen items, cards, gifts and more and model clothes in Albertina's Restaurant.

 

GARDENING VOLUNTEER

Location: 424 NE 22nd Ave Portland, OR 97232

Commitment: Flexible Schedule, Monday - Sunday

Volunteer have multiple options to help out at Kerr locations with gardening. First, you can join the landscape and gardening committee at the Old Ker Nursery restaurant and shops. Help with general gardening, watering, pruning and maintenance around the historic landmark building in NE Portland, OR. Secondly, you can help at Project Grows urban farm! SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY VOLUNTEER

Location: Children’s Developmental Health Services (Cedar Hills)

Commitment: 1 month, 2hr shift

Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree Program or attending classes as a post baccalaureate student in Speech Pathology. Volunteers will observe therapy sessions of children with a wide range of diagnoses and treatments. They will also assist with day-to-day clinic tasks including: upkeep and maintenance of treatment spaces/materials.

 

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY VOLUNTEER

Location: Children’s Developmental Health Services (Cedar Hills)

Commitment: 1 month, 2hr shift

Volunteers will observe therapy sessions of children with a wide range of diagnoses and treatments. SEWING VOLUNTEER

Location: From home

Commitment: As needed. Depends on current needs.

Make blankets, vests, curtains, pillows or specialty items to help liven up our group homes for adults and youth. Weighted blankets & vests are also needed for therapeutic support of all individuals served by Kerr’s programs.
