Dear Friends of Albertina Kerr,
I’m excited to announce that, as of today, August 1, Albertina Kerr and Exceed Enterprises have officially merged under the name Albertina Kerr. This union combines 167 years of experience serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and mental health challenges, making us the largest provider of I/DD services in Oregon. We are committed to thoughtfully integrating our programs, staff, and cultures. This merger also brings new services to Kerr, including Day Services Activities (Kerr Paths to Community: Inclusive Day Services).
Our new fiscal year started on July 1, and we are pleased to welcome Aaron Cilek (pictured: bottom right) as the new chair of our Foundation Board of Trustees and former Exceed Board Members Aaron Goff (pictured top left) and Judy Powell (pictured top right) to our Governing Board of Directors. And our Senior Leadership Team has expanded with Exceed’s CEO, Nadja Sailesman (pictured bottom left), now serving as Chief Program Officer. Together, we are ready to make an even greater impact across Oregon for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health challenges.
We are incredibly proud of the recent graduation of another cohort of Project SEARCH interns. These talented individuals completed a 9-month internship with Multnomah County’s Division of County Services. Congratulations to these dedicated individuals. Their achievements are a testament to the support and encouragement provided by their families and mentors, as well as the importance of our work and the difference we make in the lives of those we serve. Our fall gala is back! Please join us for “Together for Kerr” presented by Feguson Wellman on Friday, September 13 at Castaway Portland. New this year, you can attend in person or virtually as we gather to help create a world where everyone is empowered to lead self-determined lives. Get your tickets today!
Finally, as we celebrate our progress, we must recognize the significant milestone of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law on July 26, 1990. This landmark civil rights legislation ensures that individuals with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.
Thank you for your unwavering support! It is because of you that we can continue to make profound difference in our communities.
Sincerely,
Allison Stark
