Hello, Friends of Kerr!

Here at Kerr, as we approach the end of June, we’re buzzing with anticipation and excitement. Not only does this month mark the close of our fiscal year, but it’s also a special milestone for me—my anniversary of joining this amazing organization. Time truly flies when you’re surrounded by incredible supporters and dedicated staff! In the coming months, we’ll be unveiling a new strategic plan that will shape Kerr’s future. Stay tuned as we embark on this promising journey together, brimming with hope and enthusiasm.

KERR FUN ZONE
This summer, Kerr staff and clients are coming together each month to partake in the ultimate Kerr Fun Zone at Kerr Bikes & Boats. It’s a jubilant occasion where everyone can immerse themselves in the joy of riding a surrey or other unique cycle (including adaptive bikes). They can also engage in lively games, enjoy lunch, and much more.

ADVOCACY FOLLOW-UP
On behalf of everyone at Kerr, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who supported our advocacy efforts to increase wages for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). As a result of our advocacy, the legislatively approved budget includes an additional 3% increase in wages for our DSPs. While we appreciate this investment, we believe there is significantly more work to be done to raise wages for our dedicated DSPs. Kerr remains committed to advocating for the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and driving positive change in our communities. Thank you for standing with us!

CRAFTING FOR A CAUSE
Aevlan, Annabel, and Bowen, who are just 8 and 5 years old, teamed up to create their company, Double-A. These kid-preneurs are not only talented at making beautiful crafts, but they also have a heart of gold! Their mission? Raising funds for Albertina Kerr, proving that you’re never too young to start making a difference. Thank you, Double-A!

BOARD APPOINTMENT
I’m proud to announce that I’ve been appointed to the The Arc Oregon Board of Directors. I’m looking forward to working with Executive Director Em Braman and her team to further the Arc’s mission of supporting full inclusion and participation of people with I/DD in their communities.

WYNNE WATTS COMMONS WINS LANDMARK AWARD
We’re thrilled to announce that the Portland Business Journal has selected Kerr’s Wynne Watts Commons as one of the region’s most transformative projects of 2022. This prestigious honor, the 2023 Landmark Award, recognizes our investment and commitment to the community.

A WARM WELCOME
We’re excited to introduce you to our new Development Officer, Meg Buckley (pictured bottom, left), who will play a crucial role in advancing Kerr’s mission. As a Development team member, Meg will focus on aligning Kerr’s philanthropy efforts with the organization’s priorities.

Thank you for your unwavering support! Here’s to many more years of making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.

Sincerely,
Allison Stark
CEO, Albertina Kerr
