Today, we recognize the dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) on their journey to meaningful employment: Job Coaches, Employment Consultants, Employment Coordinators, and Skills Trainers. These unsung heroes provide support, guidance, and encouragement every step of the way, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to lead a self-determined life.
Our 23 Job Coaches provide invaluable support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) seeking long-term employment. With a focus on customized employment strategies, they work closely with clients to build skills, foster independence, and integrate them into the workplace. Job Coaches help individuals navigate challenges and celebrate successes, offering support that extends beyond job placement to ensure sustainable employment. Whether through role-playing, positive feedback, or on-site coaching, Job Coaches impact the lives of those they serve.
Albertina Kerr’s five Employment Consultants are champions of inclusive employment, helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) achieve their career goals. They work closely with job seekers, providing career assessments, job readiness training, and support throughout the employment process. Employment Consultants also partner with employers to build diverse workforces and ensure reasonable accommodations. With creativity, patience, and a passion for empowering others, Employment Consultants are instrumental in opening doors to new opportunities for the people we support.
Our six Employment Coordinators go above and beyond to support job seekers, facilitating individualized job development and connecting them with community employers. They collaborate with Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation Services (OVRS) and advocate for job seekers to find the right employment fit. From resume building to interview preparation, Employment Coordinators offer personalized support that boosts confidence and creates lasting employment success.
Our seven Skills Trainers help individuals with I/DD develop the skills they need for employment success. Through one-on-one coaching and pre-employment activities, they work with clients to identify goals and build the competencies necessary for job readiness. Skills Trainers are dedicated to empowering our clients, helping them gain confidence and independence as they pursue meaningful work opportunities.
We extend our gratitude to Kerr’s Job Coaches, Employment Consultants, Employment Coordinators, and Skills Trainers who impact the lives of the people we support. Their dedication and passion drive our mission to empower individuals with I/DD to lead self-determined lives in their communities.
