For nearly 40 years, Marsha Buono volunteered her time and resources in support of Kerr’s work at the restaurant and thrift shop at Albertina’s Place. “The opportunity to meet people, make friends, and belong to a community that was making a difference was huge,” she says.

Marsha’s giving spirit, coupled with decades of holding leadership roles in The Old Kerr Nursery Association (TOKNA), made her a shoo-in as the 2020 recipient of The Joyce Manougian Lifetime Achievement Award.

When Albertina’s Kitchen opened in 1981, Marsha began her volunteer career as a baker. Over the years she worked on the catering crew as a cook and flower arranger. “Catering was absolutely a joy because it was always a party,” she recalls. “And, when my shift was over I knew I had made a contribution to the welfare of Kerr’s clients, even though I didn’t have the skills to help them personally— it’s always something I could be proud of.”

Marsha’s leadership roles included TOKNA President, Director of Albertina’s Closet, and Chair of the TOKNA Leadership Committee. She is also a former Foundation Trustee and Champion Gift Society member.

In 2021, we will honor Marsha for her years of service and celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Albertina’s Place. Details will be coming soon.
